Freddy Sandoval

Voted best personal trainer in Albuquerque, 2022 & 2024

Being an athlete who grew up in ABQ helped lead Sandoval to a career in fitness and training. “I was always competitive with sports. I played baseball and I wrestled in high school,” says Sandoval. “But I also got into trouble, and so with combat sports, I kind of picked that up on the streets.”

About Freddy Sandoval

He began competing in mixed martial arts in 2005, and soon started coaching. These days, he leads hardcore classes in MMA, Cardio Kickboxing, HIIT, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, and Kettlebell training at Legion Iron Gym. A no-nonsense, 24/7 gym in East Downtown. But says he gets just as much joy in working with non-athletes who are just looking to get healthier, or kids who could benefit from good fitness habits. “I have kids of my own now, and I just want to teach them to live healthy lives and be disciplined and confident in what they’re doing,” says Sandoval. “When my clients start fitting in clothes that used to be tight, how much better do they feel? That’s what makes my job rewarding.”

Freddy’s passion for fitness started from the early 2000’s after he rehabbed himself from a back injury. He than begun to train athletes and fighters alike. His journey as an MMA fighter led him to this career as one of Albuquerque’s Best Trainers. He has been honored as TOP 5 Trainers in the Albuquerque Area the last 4 years and in 2022 and 2024 he was awarded Albuquerque’s Best Trainer of the Year. He's the only PT to have ever won twice.

He works with athletes to normal everyday people to help transform their lives. He is well versed in different areas like weight loss, strength, muscle building, athletic performance, sport specific, and athletic rehabilitation.

With his natural ability to coach and motivate people to trust and understand his methods, he gets the results his clients want. He has developed effective goal specific training programs to pinpoint flaws within clients and change their lifestyle habits for good.
